A Celebration of Music
21 June 2010
Public places of the inner city and the suburbs of Pécs and other unusual venues
Detailed program above!
The Celebration of Music was initiated in France; its essence is to introduce the many faceted nature of music, whatever the genre, whether soloists or groups, instrumental or vocal. The event is one of spontaneous and free music-making for the joy of it and one which provides both professionals and amateurs with the opportunity to display their talent.
Apart from presenting Pécs's professional and amateur groups, the event also provides an occasion to participate for the musical formations of the region and its twinned towns, as well as the Southern Cultural Belt (Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia-Hercegovina). The concerts will be held on the rewly renovated squares of the inner city (Széchenyi Square, Kossuth Square), the community spaces of the suburbs (Malomvölgy Lake, Meszes) and some other unusual venues (the post-office, the children's hospital, home for senior citizens etc.).
