4th World Festival of Convivial Song
24-26 September 2010
Pécs National Theatre, Széchenyi square, the villages of Villány-Siklós Wine Route
The European Festivals of Convivial Song and the World Festival of Convivial Song have been organised in Pécs and along the settlements of the Villány-Siklós Wine Trail since 1993. To date, some 4,000 singers from 38 countries have arrived with their musical treasures related to their native culture and wine. The uniqueness of its event, its high musical standard and ability to form a cult is proof of wine's part in inspiring the arts and its role as a complex symbol in man's self-creation.

Over the four days of the festival male voice choirs, vocal ensembles and soloists from South America, Asia and Europe sing their convivial songs in cellar concerts along the justly famous Villány-Siklós Wine Trail, in the gala concert in the Pécs National Theatre and on Pécs's Széchenyi Square during the event evocative of the ancient Bacchanalia.
